Dutch NGO attacks Venezuelan Navy defense contract with Dutch company

November 25, 2010, VHeadline News, Patrick J. O'Donoghue. Alarm bells have rung in the Netherlands after member of the Dutch Campaign against the Weapons Trade NGO, Frank Slijper criticized a Dutch branch of the Thales Group for selling defense communications equipment to Venezuela.

Slijper appears to be making much ado that the system could be used against the Dutch islands of Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire in a Falklands/Malvinas style invasion from the Venezuelan mainland.

Slijper alleges that the contract could threaten regional stability by boosting Venezuela's military capabilities.

The allegation questions the researcher's ulterior motives: Dutch interests or weapons trade control?
